Zalcronator Ray Gun
The Zalcronator Ray Gun was inspired by classic sci-fi movie ray guns. It visually suggests the possibility of power being generated in the bulbous main section and being compressed, increasing the power as it feeds down to the front nozzle, where you’d expect a visually exciting ray of electrons to fire out. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing happens. No idea why it never worked? Assembled using a kettle, pressure gauge, knobs, light fittings, tea pot, electric motor parts and more...
This ray guns power output was excessive and devastating, destroying everything in front of it within a cone of 90 degrees. However the range was only 2cm before it reduced to a tickle. It was only really good for extreme thrill seeker cheese grilling. So it has been depowered and is now just a homage to the classic bulbous bodied, ringed end ray gun. It has been assembled using light fittings, sewing machine parts, gas burner hobs, tap valves, ski pole handle and more...
This intergalactic Steampunk styled water ray gun was ordered by the very eccentric Professor Flintoffy Noffolus Bulgarneon. He required it for filling a bath instantly with the perfect temperature water. Unfortunately the rate the water exited the gun created so much heat it evaporated the water instantly, turning it into a steam iron. It has now been discharged and is an ornament only. It has been assembled using brass vases, brass taps, brass lamp and chandelier fittings and more...
Ideal for snubbing out small problems such as Tom Thumb (infamous molecule thief), the Stubby Snubster is a short range, short shot weapon designed for short people who are short on ammo and time. There is only one of these in existence, so supply is also short! It has been assembled using a ceiling eyeball light, brass vases, draw handles, light fittings and a brass candelabra.
The Curly Whirler is an uncontrollable ran gun that emits 14,000 eplicatazles in 16 directions with one pull of the trigger. More like a C130 flare defence system than a sniper rifle in accuracy! However, unfortunately it started fires too easily and was impossible to aim, so it has been discharged and is now for sale as an ornament of mystery and intrigue. It has been assembled using brass light fittings, brass clock gears, 80's eyeball light housing and brass chandelier parts.
The Neutron Lamp was inspired by the microscopic world of atoms and chemical makeup as well as the larger connections to solar system and galaxies with a central star. No matter how close you get to our microscopic world or how far away you get into space there are great similarities. This piece shines a friendly celebratory light on all of that.
The Tesla Ray was inspired by Nikola Tesla’s mesmerising and frightening work experiments with electricity, particularly the Tesla Coil and its arc jumping beauty. I wanted this piece to look like it hummed and crackled while heating up. Despite trying, it was not possible to make it even 4% safe, so its just an ornament. Assembled using a bench mounted wine corker, door handles, tow ball, stainless steel roller, camshaft lifter spring, tap fittings and more...
The FSR Firestorm is in new condition as it has only ever been fired once. It was to be a revolutionary weapon by using its surroundings as ammunition, thus never having to reload. Unfortunately I failed to anticipate the issue of how to stop it. When fired it caused an uncontrollable fire, igniting everything around it and spreading for miles! So I removed the software. The front torch ignitors still work though. Assembled using a bench mounted wine bottle corker, Magic Bullet cup, torches, steel tubing and more...
The Saturn 6 was inspired by the design aesthetic of classic sic-fi models of the 50's and 60's. Such as the submarine from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and the 1950's spaceship from Flash Gordon. This piece has been assembled using draw knobs, metal sink plugs, door stops, kettle, ski pole handle, vase, wire basket, light fittings, vacuum hose, vacuum latches and more...
Modelled after Turbo the snail, a cartoon my children and I found very entertaining when they were younger. What's not to love about a turbo fast goofy snail? This piece was huge fun to create and I’ve had him in my company for 6 years. It’s time for someone else to enjoy him. He has been lovingly assembled using a brass tea pot, brass miners lamp, brass oil lamp, brass steam pressure gauge, copper and brass light fittings, brass vase, brass chain, brass plate and more...
Billy Lamps (Pair)
The Billy Bedside Lamps are a pair sold together. They are a mirror image of each other. I was inspired by Steampunk, trains, boilers and fire. My aim was to bring a soft and interesting light to the harshness of the influences. Assembled using outdoor gas heaters, light fittings, cooper piping, draw knobs and brass clock gears. The large brass gauges are from the Roxburgh Hydro Electric Dam refurbishment in the South Island of New Zealand.
The Vesselating Protonator is a lamp that was created to run on protons stored in the vacuum tube. Unfortunately the protons seeped into the structure, so it runs on electrons now. Which is far more reliable as you can simply plug it into the existing electrical network! This piece has been assembled using a copper water heater, brass gauge, copper piping, brass light fittings, brass plumbing fittings, brass miners lamp, glass solar tube and more...
A mysterious Steampunk styled home cinema robot ready to greet guests. He is equiped with a vacuum cleaner, movie reels, a shakeable hand on offer, a mysterious eye and an unusual moustache. USHER has been assembled using Soda Stream bottles, movie reels, an old slide projector, old Hoover vacuum cleaner and its original bag, an old electrical testing unit and loads more bits and bobs.
The Future Of AI
"Remains To Be Seen"
This piece focuses on the negative perceptions of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and how it might impact on us. This robot is an imagination of a far distant future where AI has been and gone. This being the remains of an AI robot found during an archaeological dig. He is skeletal, his biodegradable skin textures have rotted off. His limbs blown off in the final war against AI. Assembled using a Kirby vacuum cleaner, sewing machine body, salt and pepper shakers and more...
