This piece started with the soda bottle used as the stalk of the main mushroom. I sat it on the main base, which is from an automatic transmission. Then I looked for something to go on top. I was looking to make a science experiment type lamp, but when I saw the bowl and tried it on top, I knew it was going to be a Mushroom Medley lamp.
All my pieces are made by trial and error, trying what I think won't work as well as what i think will work. This process prevents any one path of creativity being entrenched and continuously followed, allowing for surprise and new ideas to flow and new discoveries to be made.
